NEW YORK - Villanova women's lacrosse earned a pair of BIG EAST weekly honors on Monday afternoon, as Emma Verhoest was named BIG EAST Midfielder of the Week and Kathryn Monaco was named BIG EAST Freshman of the Week.
Verhoest totaled 28 draw controls across two contests to lead Villanova. In the Wildcats' 11-5 win over Siena, she recorded nine draw controls. The junior from Newton, Massachusetts followed that performance with a dominant outing in Villanova's 14-12 victory at Vermont, setting a single-game program record with 19 draw controls.
Monaco recorded an assist and a ground ball in Villanova's win at Siena. She followed with a strong performance in the victory at Vermont, scoring four goals while adding another ground ball. The outing marked the freshman's second hat trick of the season.
Verhoest, Monaco and the 'Cats return home to face nationally ranked Stony Brook on March 17 at 2 p.m. at Villanova Stadium.
