VILLANOVA, Pa. – The Villanova women's tennis team returns home for a BIG EAST matchup against UConn on Saturday, April 4, with first serve set for 10:00 a.m.
Villanova enters the weekend at 1-1 in conference play and will look to move above .500 as they take on the Huskies.
The Wildcats are coming off a narrow 4-3 loss on the road to in-state rival Temple. The Owls seized early momentum by sweeping all three doubles matches to claim the opening point, despite competitive efforts from the Villanova pairings of

Villanova responded in singles with a strong push, earning three victories to keep the match tight.
Miriam Gondorova led the way with a decisive 6-4, 6-0 win, while
Jenna Stevens followed with a 6-3, 6-4 victory.
Lauren Monti also delivered in straight sets, 6-1, 6-2.
Temple ultimately secured the win by taking the remaining singles matches, including a tightly contested three-set battle at No. 5 singles that decided the match.
UConn enters Saturday with a 9-6 overall record and a 3-2 mark in BIG EAST play. The Huskies have won their last two matches in dominant fashion, defeating both Marquette and Providence by 7-0 scores. Their résumé also includes wins over Fairfield, LIU, Stony Brook, Quinnipiac, Sacred Heart, Butler, and Bryant.
Villanova has had recent success in the matchup, defeating UConn 4-3 last season. The Wildcats have won each of the last two meetings between the programs.
