LAST TIME OUT
Villanova enters the weekend riding momentum from a thrilling 8–7 walk-off victory over Saint Joseph's.
The Wildcats fell behind early, as the Hawks plated four runs across the first four innings to take a 4–0 lead. Villanova responded in the bottom of the fourth with a five-run surge. Sophomore
Brayden Leonard jumpstarted the rally with an RBI double to left-center, and sophomore
JoJo Montgomery followed with a run-scoring hit to help tie the game.
John Freitag later drew a bases-loaded walk to give the Wildcats their first lead of the day.
In the sixth inning, senior
Collin Quintano extended the lead with his ninth home run of the season — a solo shot off the left-field foul pole.
Saint Joseph's regained the lead in the top of the ninth, scoring two runs with two outs. But Villanova had the final answer. With two runners in scoring position and two outs in the bottom half, freshman
Jack Roventini delivered a walk-off, two-run single to center field to secure the victory.
The win marked Villanova's first walk-off of the season and its second consecutive victory.
VILLANOVA LEADERS
Collin Quintano leads the Wildcats with nine home runs, 36 RBI, and a .328 batting average. The senior has homered in back-to-back games for the second time this season.
JoJo Montgomery continues to swing a hot bat, recording six hits over his last three games, including a three-hit performance against Saint Joseph's. He ranks second on the team with a .303 average.
On the mound, senior
Graham Moore holds a team-best 3.86 ERA with 23 strikeouts across 23 innings pitched.
Brayden Leonard is coming off a strong outing, tallying three hits and an RBI in the win over the Hawks.
SERIES HISTORY
Villanova holds a 100–60 all-time advantage over Georgetown across 160 meetings. On the road, the Wildcats own a 44–36 edge.
Villanova claimed last year's series, taking two of three games, and won the most recent matchup, 5–2.
SCOUTING GEORGETOWN
Georgetown enters the series at 22–23 overall and 4–8 in BIG EAST play. The Hoyas have dropped five straight games, most recently falling to Maryland, 11–2.
Connor Peek leads Georgetown offensively with a .352 batting average, along with five home runs and 38 RBI.
