Villanova Field Hockey to Open New Home on Cabrini Campus

New field hockey venue will be part of the official opening of the Villanova University Cabrini Campus

VILLANOVA, Pa.—An exciting new chapter in the history of Villanova Field Hockey will begin when the Wildcats move to a new permanent home in Radnor as part of the official opening of the Villanova University Cabrini Campus. The final stage of construction plans for the Wildcats brand new field is underway as Villanova ushers in a new era for both the University and Field Hockey program. Additional details on the new field will be announced as the Fall season draws closer.

Construction of a new home base for games and training for the field hockey program is a transformational project which directly benefits Villanova student-athletes now and in the years to come. The new field will take over the space formerly known as Edith Robb Dixon Field. The facility is being upgraded this Summer with details to include a new state-of-the-art field hockey turf surface and irrigation system. Additional amenities will feature Villanova branding, new bleachers and a refreshed press box.

"The relocation of our field hockey venue to the new Villanova University Cabrini Campus is an exciting step forward for both Villanova Athletics and our Field Hockey program," University Vice President and Director of Athletics Eric Roedl said. "This new facility will enhance the experience for our student-athletes, coaches, and fans while bringing the program back to campus. Villanova Athletics is committed to investing in championship-caliber facilities that support the success of our student-athletes and strengthen our athletics community. This venue will create an outstanding environment for competition, training and engagement, and we look forward to the positive impact this move will have on our program now and in the future."

The timing is advantageous for a Wildcats team which has qualified for the BIG EAST Championship in two of the past three seasons. Villanova celebrated its 50th anniversary as a varsity program in 2022 and has an all-time .567 winning percentage in home games throughout its history. The field hockey program has had four All-Americans, while 10 former standouts have been inducted to the Villanova University Varsity Club Hall of Fame. There has been a field hockey Hall of Fame inductee in four of the last six induction classes.

"Bringing our program back home to our new field on the Cabrini Campus represents far more than just moving to a new facility," Villanova University Endowed Field Hockey Head Coach Joanie Milhous said. "This move is an investment in our student-athletes, our culture, and our future. Having a true on-campus home will elevate every aspect of the student-athlete experience and strengthen our ability to recruit, develop, and compete at the highest level. We are incredibly grateful for this opportunity and excited about the impact it will have on Villanova Field Hockey for generations to come."

Villanova University acquired the 112-acre Cabrini Campus in 2024 and has been working to renovate the space for the past two years. The new field hockey field is one of a number of features that will be part of Villanova University's new Cabrini Campus. The Cabrini Campus will be home to a robust academic program, as well as a dynamic mix of residential, dining, and recreational experiences.
