LONG BEACH, Calif. – After a stellar week of scoring that saw her account for four of Villanova's 13 goals across two games, Avrie Nelsen has earned her first placement on TopDrawerSoccer's Team of the Week, as announced on Tuesday.
 
Nelsen is the second Wildcat to be recognized this season by the organization with Morgan Kotch landing an Honorable Mention nod back on August 21. This is her second plaudit in as many days, landing BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week status on Monday afternoon.
 
The sophomore forward led Villanova this week with eight points. She scored a goal in the 2-0 win at Columbia on Thursday before logging the first hat trick of her career in the 11-0 win over Iona on Sunday. She netted goals in the 2^nd, 17^th and 78^th minutes of that one with the second-minute goal marking the fastest goal of the year for Villanova, needing just 1:43 to give the 'Cats an early lead. This is the Dix Hills, N.Y. native's first Offensive Player of the Week honor.
 
Nelsen and the 'Cats are back at home on Thursday to host Penn at 4 p.m. inside the friendly confines of Higgins Soccer Complex.
