Road Trip: Wednesday is the first trip for Villanova since late August. All-told, The Wildcats hit the road for eight games this season, taking them to six states outside of the Keystone State. With head coach Samar Azem at the helm, Villanova has gone 13-17-8 away in road games.

A Zap of Scoring: Junior forward Dez Zapata has had a breakout month in September, leading the team with five points in the last three games. She has notched at least a point in that time, credited with an assist against Delaware and scoring a goal against Princeton and St. John's.

Nearing the Century Mark: Head coach Samar Azem is one win away from the 100th of her career. She comes into the week at 99-84-38 in her 13 years of coaching with 28 of those victories coming at Villanova.

• Creighton comes into Wednesday with back-to-back games without a loss, defeating Omaha, 1-0, on September 16 and drawing with Providence on Saturday, 1-1. Head coach Jimmy Walker's team is 3-1-1 in home games this year with the lone loss being a 3-0 defeat to Gonzaga on September 13. Their three wins have all been in 1-0 shutout fashion.
• The Bluejays are being outscored 10-7 this season, shooting at a 9.6 clip with .78 goals per game. They are second in the BIG EAST for shot accuracy at .512, landing them at 45th nationally with 44 of their 86 shot attempts landing on frame.
• Olivia Duray leads the team with seven points on three goals and an assist. She scored the team's lone goal in their last contest. Olivia Sides has seen a point in back-to-back games via assists.
• Wednesday is the 13th meeting between the 'Cats and Jays with the series tied 6-6 and an even 3-3 when playing in Omaha. Creighton was the victor in last season's match on the Main Line, 0-1, while Villanova took the last game in Omaha on 2024, 2-0.

• Saturday brings the 34th meeting between Villanova and Georgetown in a series that dates back to 1983. Georgetown has dominated the last 12 matchups to the tune of a 39-2 scoring advantage in 12 straight wins. The last time Villanova scored a goal on the Hoyas was Oct. 12, 2016 in a 5-1 loss. Since then, the 'Cats have been outscored 29-0. Villanova has not seen a win in the series since Oct. 19, 2012 when it topped Georgetown 1-0 at Higgins Soccer Complex. Since then, the 'Cats have gone 0-13-1 in the series with that lone draw coming in a 1-1 result on Oct. 26, 2014.
• This is one of the first times in recent history that Georgetown comes into the matchup unranked. The highest Georgetown has been ranked coming into a meeting during the last four seasons was No. 12 last season when Villanova left Washington D.C. with a 1-0 loss.
• Georgetown opened BIG EAST action on Saturday with a 4-3 loss to Xavier. That result snapped a three-match unbeaten run for the Hoyas. Before they come to the Main Line, they host Marquette on Wednesday.
• Abigail Droner leads the BIG EAST with 1.63 points per game, a number that puts her at 42nd in the nation. She's had at least one point in three consecutive games, including a two-goal showing in the 4-1 win over George Washington on September 16.

Villanova 2, St. John's 0 | September 26, 2026 - Villanova, Pa. - Higgins Soccer Complex

Villanova logged its seventh clean sheet of the season to stay unbeaten with a BIG EAST opening victory. Villanova scored its first goal of the conference slate in the 27th minute as Morgan Kotch was defended by a slew of Johnnies. She pushed a pass from near the end line back toward the penalty spot where Gabby Koluch connected with the back of the net for a 1-0 lead. Through the opening 45 minutes, Villanova led shots 5-2 with Koluch landing both of her attempts on frame. It was Dez Zapata's turn to double Villanova's lead in the 66th minute on another solid bit of passing from Kotch. Meredith Palmer played a long ball across the midfield that Kotch chased down. She sent a through pass into the box that Zapata tracked to make a sliding shot on that sailed into the opposite side of the net for a 2-0 lead. Kotch tried to get into the goal column in the 74th minute with a shot from the top of the penalty area but Bower made a dead-on save. Despite a strong offensive presence in the second half, St. John's best chance to cut into the lead came in the 89th minutes. Daisy Burt lined up for a free kick above the 18-yard box that Hannah Dickinson caught near the right post.
