NEW YORK – For the second time this season, Villanova finds itself with three representatives on the BIG EAST Weekly Awards.
Avrie Nelsen and
Hannah Dickinson were tabbed the league's Offensive Player of the Week and Goalkeeper of the Week, respectively, while
Meredith Palmer landed a spot on the Weekly Honor Roll.
These latest laurels bring Villanova to 11 total weekly honors from the conference this season. The trio were all also named to the list together back on August 31.
Nelsen played a part in two of Villanova's three goals on the week. The sophomore logged an assist on
Kaydee Amorosa's goal at Creighton to make it a 1-0 game en route to a 2-1 victory. She also netted the game-winning goal in Saturday's 1-0 win over Georgetown. Nelsen now leads the team with six goals and 14 points on the year.
Dickinson moved to 8-0-3 on the year with back-to-back wins. She allowed just one goal on the week with a season-high four saves in both contests. The graduate netminder grabbed her sixth solo clean sheet of the year on Saturday to move to 20 in her time as a Wildcat. She is two away from tying Janel Schillig at third on the program's career shutouts list.
Palmer continues to be a steady presence in the Wildcat backline. She was a part of the of a Villanova defense that allowed just one goal on the week, making full 90 minute showings in both games. Her and the Wildcat backline logged its eighth clean sheet of the season in a 1-0 win over Georgetown.
