Villanova Athletics is proud to present the Villanova P.A.W.S program: Providing Athletes With Support. The P.A.W.S. program helps to ensure the best quality experience for Villanova student-athletes, both in the classroom and on the playing fields. Wildcat student-athletes represent the best in athletic and academic achievements, and Villanova is proud to recognize these student leaders.
This week's P.A.W.S. honors go to Wildcat senior Leah Mathews, an engineering major and volleyball standout from Poway, Calif., and Our Lady of Peace High School. Mathews has been a key force in Villanova's six-game winning streak, during which time the `Cats have improved their record from 3-6 to 9-6. This past weekend, Leah led Villanova to the Wildcat Classic Tournament Championship with wins over Duquesne, Radford and Siena. For her phenomenal play during the tournament, she was named the Wildcat Classic Most Valuable Player. Mathews posted 38 kills and 27 digs during the three games, including a tournament-high 17 kills in Villanova's second round game against Radford.
We congratulate Leah on her achievements, and proudly support the Villanova P.A.W.S. program. For additional information regarding P.A.W.S., contact Villanova University at (610) 519-4605.
