Villanova senior Brooks Sales recorded his 12th career double-double with 12 points and 13 rebounds. It is the second time this season Sales has had a double-double and his 13 boards is a season-high.
Brooks Sales added four blocked shots, tying his career-high.
For the second consecutive game four Villanova players scored in double figures: Gary Buchanan (22 pts.), Reggie Bryant (13 pts.), Brooks Sales (12 pts.) and Andrew Sullivan (11 pts.).
Villanova's Ricky Wright recorded a career-high four assists. His previous career-high was 3 set versus Wake Forest (12/30/99). Wright finished with five points, eight rebounds, and four assists.
Villanova freshman Chris Charles logged his first minutes of his rookie season. Charles has been sidelined with an irregular heartbeat. Charles finished the night with four points, one rebound, and two blocked shots.
For the second time this season Villanova held its opponent to 19 first half points. The Wildcats held Dayton to 19 first half points on Nov. 24.
Villanova started the game on a 18-2 run in opening 8:33. During the stretch the Wildcats shot 7-of-12 from the field while they held Stony Brook to 1-for-11 from the floor.
The Wildcats shot 14-of-23 (.609) from the field in the first half, including 4-for-5 (.800) from behind the three point-arc.
Stony Brook ended the half shooting 6-for-28 (.214) from the floor. Five of the six successful field goal attempts were from three-point range. The Seawolves connected on 5-of-8 (.625) three-pointers.
Tonight's game versus Villanova and Stony Brook was the first meeting ever between the two schools.
