Villanova Volleyball Falls to Crosstown Rival Penn

Philadelphia, Pa. --- The Villanova women's volleyball team faced off on October 2, against the Penn Quakers. The Wildcats were hoping to end a 3 game slide, however the Quakers quickly put an end to that by defeating the `Cats in three straight sets (30-19,30-27,30-23). The loss drops Villanova's record to 9-10 overall and 0-2 in the Big East.

Setting the pace for the Wildcats was sophomore middle blocker Kerri Sullivan. Sullivan (Downers Grove, Ill./South) led the team with 14 kills on 37 attempts for a percentage of .243. Katie Lanting (Loveland, Co./Alexander Dawson), another talented sophomore at the middle blocker position, contributed a solid effort tallying nine kills on 22 attempts for a percentage of .273. Leading the way on the defensive side was Sam Hartwell who led the Wildcats with 20 digs which was also a game high.

E Kwak-Hefferan led Penn with 13 kills and 10 digs. Also contributing a solid effort was Megan Schloat who had a game high 38 set assists and 20 digs.

Next up for the Villanova Wildcat volleyball team is Miami on October 5. The Wildcats will try to bring their record to .500 and give Miami its first defeat of the season at 11:00 am this Saturday at the Jake Nevin Field House on the campus of Villanova.
