Ahead of Heart Health Month (February), Villanova University will honor staff members whose preparation and collaboration saved a colleague's life, and to remind fans that we are all on the same team when it comes to public health emergencies.
After Villanova head volleyball coach Josh Steinbach suffered sudden cardiac arrest during a pickup basketball game this summer, athletic department coworkers acted immediately – stabilizing him with a ZOLL AED before EMS arrived.
On Friday, January 30th during the men's basketball game against Providence, Villanova will partner with ZOLL to recognize the VU staff members who saved Steinbach's life. The responders will be presented with certificates of appreciation, and ZOLL will donate an AED to the Villanova campus in addition to providing an AED demonstration table for game attendees to learn more.
