Villanova Head Coach Jay Wright:
I think we caught Drexel having the same night we had against Marquette. Drexel is a very good shooting team. They are a much better team, it was their first night. We did a good job defensively. I just don't think we did as well as the numbers show. I think they had a little opening night excitement. We have seen tape of them, they usually make those shots. We still have a lot of work to do. We need to find ourselves, learn to play together.
Coach Wright on his high scoring Freshmen:
There is a lot of them out there, they are definitely going to find a way to score. For Ricky Wright to go out and get 16 rebounds, he played unselfish, always kicked the ball out. He created numerous opportunities for the young guys to get their feet set and hit shots.
Drexel Head Coach James "Bruiser" Flint:
We started doing things we can't do. We don't have the athletes Villanova has. We can't slice the lane as well, we can't create that many open shots. We started rushing, turned the ball over a lot. I thought we played three minutes of bad basketball at the end of the first half. We took some bad shots, turned the ball over. It allowed them to go up by seven, and really hurt us in the long run.
We got back in it. I told my guys we were doing fine. I told my guys to just keep moving. Then we went on to shoot 25%. If we shoot that poorly there is no way we can win. We started putting a lot of pressure on our defense, we just couldn't catch up.
