Good From Three: The Wildcats came out cold this season making only 3 out of 26 attempts in their first game against Marquette. Today's game saw the 'Cats get back on track as Villanova shot 12 three point shots in the first half making five. In the second Villanova hit two more threes and shot 7-18 on the night, which was good for 38.9 percent from long range.
Home Winning Ways: Since opening the Pavilion in 1986 the Wildcats have posted a 143-45 mark at home. Recently Villanova has been especially effective in the Pavilion going 83-13 since the 1994-95 season. Tonight the 'Cats kept the home success going as they start the 2002-03 season 1-0 on the Pavilion floor by defeating Drexel 64-41.
Ricky Back on the Wright Track: Against Marquette the least that could be said of Ricky Wright's performance was that he had an off night. Playing in only 17 minutes, Wright did not find the basket finishing with zero points and fouling out. Tonight's game against Drexel was a different story as Wright returned to the Wright of old pouring in six points and recording a game high 16 rebounds while playing 30 minutes.
Allan Again: Freshman guard Allan Ray has been a consistent scorer this season for the Wildcats. Against Marquette Ray led Villanova in scoring with 16 points on 5 of 17 from the field. Tonight Ray was at it again putting in double figures for the second straight game leading the 'Cats with 15 points.
Foye Finding Others: Randy Foye had a relatively quiet night in the passing department versus Marquette. That game the freshman guard had three assists to go along with 10 points. Tonight however Foye found his mark more often with 6 assists to lead the team. As a team the Wildcats struggled passing in Madison Square Garden against Marquette with only nine assists on the evening. Villanova improved that mark against the Dragons by dishing out 19 assists total.
