Villanova, Pa. - Villanova University women's volleyball head coach Allison Keeley has announced the signing of two recruits. Adrian Semrau and Kelly Ludwig will join the Wildcats in 2003 after signing letters of intent earlier this month soon after completing successful senior seasons. "Both Adrian and Kelly are outstanding students to go along with a good work ethic" said Keeley. "Our team is excited about these two athletes joining the team."
Semrau hails from Grafton, Ohio, a suburb of Cleveland. The 6' 3" middle blocker is a first team All-Lorain County Conference honoree and was also named second team All-Lorain County. Semrau is a two-year varsity letter winner in volleyball and a four-year varsity letter winner in basketball. In addition to athletics Semrau has been named to the "Who's Who Among American High School Students" all four years at Midview High School and is a member of the National Honor Society.
Ludwig is a setter/hitter from Ramapo High School in Franklin Lakes, N.J. She is a four-year varsity letter winner who has been named first team all-league, first team all-county, and first team all-state for Group 3 in her junior and senior seasons. Ludwig also played on the Cut Shot 18 Elite club team who went undefeated in their region and went on to finish in 41st place at the Junior Olympics in Salt Lake City, Utah. Academically Ludwig is a member of the National Honor Society and plans on entering the Pre-Med program at Villanova.
"Adrian is physically intimidating and skill wise she is ready to contribute immediately in the front row," stated Keeley. "Kelly is a left-handed, quick athlete that has all the tools to be good at this level."
