VILLANOVA, Pa. - The Villanova University Men and Women's Track Program will host the Jack Pyrah Invitational Track Meet on Sunday, December 7th, 2003 at Haverford College. This will mark the first time in the school's history that Villanova will host an indoor meet. It will be done as a collaborative effort with Haverford College Track Coach and Villanova alum Tom Donnelly, Class of '68.
The meet title honors longtime Villanova Track Assistant, Jack Pyrah, who has been associated with Villanova's Track Team since the 1960's. Some of the teams that will participate will include Haverford College, Widener University, and the University of Delaware. Track & Field Director, Marcus O'Sullivan, noted that, "the meet provides an opportunity for our athletes to get the indoor season rolling in a local setting just before finals and winter break. We are also hoping that the meet will develop into a traditional season opener for many of the top local schools."
