SACRAMENTO, CA ---- The Sacramento Kings today announced the hiring of former Kings' swingman Harold Pressley as Director of Player Development.
"We're all excited to have Harold join the Kings staff in taking over the player development position on a full-time basis," said Kings' President of Basketball Operations Geoff Petrie. "I think he has all of the qualities, going forward, that will help the position grow within the league and franchise. I'm sure he'll do a terrific job working with our staff, coaches and players."
Pressley played all four of his NBA seasons with the Kings (1986-87 - 1989-90) while averaging 9.0 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 2.1 assists per game in 299 games for Sacramento. He ranks among the team's career leaders in the Sacramento era in three-point field goals made, attempted, and percentage.
"I'm excited about the opportunity to be a part of the organization again," said Pressley. "And, I'm extremely excited about my player development role. I've always been heavily involved in the community, and now I'll be working with the Kings players, coaches and staff. I'm looking forward to it."
Pressley was drafted by the Kings with the 17th overall pick of the 1986 NBA Draft out of Villanova, where he helped the Wildcats to the 1985 NCAA title. He was a first team All-BIG EAST Conference pick and honorable mention All-American in his senior season of 1986.
