VILLANOVA, Pa. - Head coach Josh Steinbach has announced the addition of two more to the 2008 roster. Kim Maroon will join the Wildcats as a libero and Kara Chatham has been added to the squad as an outside hitter.
Maroon is a 5'8 defensive player from Virginia Beach, Va. and is expected to compete for a starting spot at libero. At Frank W. Cox High School Maroon was a four-year letterwinner. She was named Tidewater, Region and District Player of the Year in 2008 and was a two-time first team All-State, All-Region and All-District.
"Kim is one of the most competitive people that I have met," Steinbach said. "She will compete for a starting libero position immediately. She comes from playing at a high level of volleyball with the Coastal Virginia club. We are looking forward to having a great club player on our team."
Chatham comes to the Wildcats from Newport Beach, Calif.; where she was an outside hitter at Corona del Mar High School. At 6'0, she was a three-time letterwinner and played for the TCA volleyball club. Chatham is a versatile player who could play in multiple positions.
"Kara played for TCA in club volleyball, which is a really high level club in southern California," Steinbach said. "She has a great all-around game and can play at three or four different positions defensively or as an outside hitter. She will be a great addition to our team."
