VILLANOVA, Pa. -

Villanova continues play in Florida for the third-straight weekend at the USF Under Armour Showcase in Clearwater, Fla.. The Wildcats will play five games throughout the weekend and look to add some wins to their 5-5 current record. The team is coming off a tough weekend where they went 1-4 at the UCF Spring Fling Tournament; they notched a win against local-foes Penn.

Top Performers at UCF Spring Fling Tournament

Junior Ali Lowe (West Palm Beach, Fla.) went six-for-12 at bat and registered a .500 batting average through her five games played. She earned one RBI and maintained a .913 fld%. Lowe and teammate Amanda Marquez (Miami, Fla.) were named to UCF's All-Tournament team. Marquez also had six hits and recorded a team high 26 putouts and 1.00 fld%.

Valerie Ortega (Ventura, Calif.), Julie Smith (Dana Point, Calif.) and Briana Fujii (San Jose, Calif.) each notched three hits, including one double from Smith and Fujii. Fujii led the team with two RBI's.

Freshman Kate Poppe (Downingtown, Pa.), the staff ace for the Wildcats, pitched 20 innings and registered 21 strikeouts. She gave up 17 hits and eight runs in her four games started. Poppe currently ranks fourth in the BIG EAST with 60 batters struck out.
