Clearwater, Fla. - After rolling the Seton Hall Pirates 14-4 Friday night, Villanova (3-5, 0-0 BIG EAST) returned to action Saturday afternoon as they fell to Eastern Michigan 3-1.
Eastern Michigan would open up the scoring in the top half of the third inning as they scored three runs on three hits to take a 3-0 lead. Brandice Olmos' RBI double to centerfield that scored two runs was the big hit of the inning.
After a scoreless fourth inning, Villanova would get on the board in the bottom half of the fifth inning. With two outs, Brittany Husk and Dana Morris each singled to put runners on first and second. Nikki Alden would then single to left field scoring Morris to cut the Eagles lead to 3-1.
Unfortunately, that's all Villanova would muster.
Kate Poppe (2-3) took the loss as she went 7.0 innings giving up three runs on six hits. Poppe also struck out five batters.
Brittany Husk went 2-for-4 at the plate.
