April 18, 2016 VILLANOVA, Pa. - Regan Lough of Martin Luther King High School in Riverside, California will join the Villanova volleyball team for the 2016 season, announced on Monday. Lough joins a class of four signees which includes Emma Decker (Chicago, Ill.), Remy Fairchild (Southlake, Texas), Myah Massenburg (Glen Allen, Va.) and Allison Olsonoski (New Orleans, La.).
"Regan has the ability to be another great Villanova libero," said Villanova head coach Josh Steinbach. "She is an intense competitor and has been playing at an extremely high level for a long time."
"This has the potential to be the best class we have ever brought in," added Steinbach. "Adding Regan today, along with the other four that are coming in, I feel as good about the future of our program as I ever have. This group is not only accomplished on the court but also outstanding students."
As a team captain, Lough was a two-time All-Big VIII first team selection in 2013 and 2014 and a two-time All-Inland Area first team selection in 2013 and 2014 while playing from her mother, Sondra, at King High School. She set the Inland Empire single season record for digs with 662 and set the career mark with 1,924.
After her senior season Lough was named Under Armour All-American Honorable Mention and PrepVolleyball All-American High Honorable Mention.
On the club scene Lough has played for Mavericks Volleyball Club, Club West and most recently Rancho Valley Volleyball.
Lough is involved in a special education program at her high school named Peers Always Working Side by Side (PAWSS) along with a pair of leadership programs, Associated Student Body (ASB) and Link Crew.
"I chose to attend Villanova University because of its high academic and athletic programs," said Lough. "Another reason is because of how important Villanova makes giving back to the community and how much support is shown for each other within the campus."
