Dunleavy Named Head Coach at Quinnipiac

March 28, 2017

VILLANOVA, Pa. - Baker Dunleavy, who has served Villanova for the last four seasons as its associate head coach, was named Tuesday as the new head coach at Quinnipiac University.

"We have had many great assistants on our staffs at Hoftsra and Villanova," stated Wildcats head coach Jay Wright. "Baker is one of the best ever. As a former player, he knew our system better than anyone. He has been ready to lead a program for years but he wanted the perfect fit. He's found that at Quinnipiac. "Baker and Chrissi will be missed dearly at Villanova. We wish them all the best!"

Dunleavy began his association with Villanova when he enrolled as a student-athlete in 2002. He played four seasons for the Wildcats and as a senior was part of a unit that claimed a share of the BIG EAST regular season championship. After earning a degree from the Villanova School of Business, Dunleavy spent four years in New York City working for Merrill Lynch before returning to his alma mater in 2010 as the director of basketball operations.

He was elevated to an assistant coaching position in 2012 and a year later was promoted to associate head coach. Over the next four seasons, Dunleavy played an integral role in helping the Wildcats earn 129 victories, four BIG EAST regular season titles, two BIG EAST Tournament crowns and the 2016 NCAA national championship.

"My family and I could not be more excited to join the Quinnipiac community," Dunleavy said. "Quinnipiac is a university that combines a first class academic environment and a highly motivated athletic program. Our staff will work to develop complete student athletes and young men who are willing to work for success on and off the court. I am eager to get started building the foundation of a program that students, fans, and alumni can be proud of."

Dunleavy, 34, is married to the former Chrissi Ingelsby and the couple has two daughters, Rosie and Cece. The Bobcats compete in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference.
