Hey Nova Nation! My name is Sarah Hangsleben and I am a freshman outfielder from Illinois. I had a great winter break back home with my family but I'm excited for my first spring season here at Villanova. As a team we came back focused and ready to work hard for this season.
Our goal this year is to perform at our best and win the Big East tournament. As a team, we want to be successful for Coach Maria during her last season here. To be successful, we are working towards being a well-rounded team in every aspect. To be a well-rounded team we workout three times a week along with our softball practice. These workouts typically consist of strength and conditioning. Our conditioning has pushed us to increase our agility and speed, while in the weight room we are consistently moving up in weights. We also have the opportunity to work out in an indoor facility twice a week. While in the indoor facility we can work all areas of the game. This past week we have started live hitting and have been working on situations. Also, we have also been very fortunate to be able to go outside and practice. We are a highly motivated team and we continually push each other to be better during all our training.
I personally have been working hard in physical therapy since my ACL surgery. I am four months into physical therapy and I have just begun the running protocol. Everyone has been very supportive of me during this journey. I am trying my best to come back this season and contribute to the team. Being in more of a sideline position, I see how hard the team is working for our first games in February.
I am very excited for my first spring season here at Villanova! Hopefully I will see you all at the games this season and thank you for joining me here today. GO CATS!!!
