VILLANOVA, Pa. – A Saturday tripleheader of sorts is in store for the Nova Nation.
Â
The first bit of action comes at the recently re-opened Finneran Pavilion Saturday morning. The Villanova Men's Basketball team will be on the court for the annual "Blue/White Scrimmage and Open Practice." Doors open at 10:30 a.m. and the practice is set to get underway on the court at 11 a.m.
Â
Admission is free.
Â
At the conclusion of the basketball practice, many in the crowd will make the short walk to Villanova Stadium, where the football Wildcats will host James Madison in a battle of nationally ranked foes at 1 p.m. In the evening, Villanova Volleyball hosts Creighton at 7 p.m. in the Jake Nevin Field House.
Â
The Finneran Pavilion officially re-opened earlier this month at "Hoops Mania." The facility had been closed since May 2017 as it underwent a $65 million donor funded renovation, with the lead gift supplied by William "Bill" Finneran, Villanova Class of 1963. Last year's Blue/White practice and scrimmage took place in Jake Nevin Field House.
Â
The Wildcats return a pair of starters – seniors
Phil Booth and
Eric Paschall – from a unit that finished 36-4 a season ago and claimed the program's third NCAA national championship.
Â
Villanova opens its 2018-19 regular season on Tuesday, Nov. 6 at the Finneran Pavilion when it hosts Morgan State.
