NEW YORK – The BIG EAST Conference announced today two Wildcats to their weekly awards for their play in the last weekend of the regular season. Freshman right side hitter Sanaä Barnes as the Freshman of the Week. The conference also named junior libero Regan Lough to the Weekly Honor Roll.
Barnes was a key factor in helping the Wildcats secure the final spot in the BIG EAST Volleyball Championship presented by Jeep this past weekend. She averaged 3.17 points and 3.00 kills per set. She had seven kills in a sweep of Butler, and tied a match-high 11 kills with two digs and two blocks in a sweep of Xavier. This was the first time this season she has won the award.
Regan Lough guided the defense for Villanova as it claimed a spot in the BIG EAST Volleyball Championship. She averaged a league second-best 5.00 digs per set over the weekend. Lough recorded a match-high 19 digs versus Butler, and she added 11 digs against Xavier. Lough also had two service aces. This is the fifth time this season Lough has been named to the Weekly Honor Roll.
