After Villanova Softball opened their fall schedule this past weekend, after a very impressive weekend, we talked to sophomore infielder
Julia DaCosta about how the offseason has prepared her for the fall season and will continue to do so into the spring season.
Julia answered, "Last season, I was not happy with my performance on the field. My offseason started last May working on the things that I knew I needed to improve on. I am so happy to be getting the opportunities that I was not getting last year. I am very confident in the program and process the coaches have put in place. It will prepare us all well for the upcoming regular season."
She hit .454 on the weekend leading the team to a 2-0 record with a 7-3 win over Binghamton and a 12-2 win over UMass. She broke the game wide open with her 3-run homerun against UMass. Not only did she have an outstanding performance at the plate, but she played a stellar shortstop in both games.
DaCosta was then also asked to recap her performance this weekend and how it felt to be able to get back on the field and play.
She stated, "It was great being able to get back out there with my teammates this weekend. There are obvious things I still need to improve on, specifically learning how to become a smarter hitter and making smoother transitions in the infield. I am so thankful for the help and support from our coaches and cannot wait to see what we can accomplish this season."
