VILLANOVA, Pa. – The Villanova women's volleyball team is excited to announce the transfer addition of Sophia Howling to the 2019 roster. Howling is transferring from the University of Hawaii and is a middle blocker. She redshirted last season and will have three years of eligibility.
Head coach Josh Steinbach, "Sophia is a welcome addition to the roster. She's a really good athlete who is long and will be a great physical presence in our gym. I'm hopeful that she is a good piece to the puzzle that helps us get back to the NCAA Tournament next fall."
The Los Angeles native played in 17 matches her freshman year. Howling posted a career high five kills twice during the season. She ended the year with 35 kills 22 total blocks.
Howling graduated from Venice High School in Los Angeles in 2017 where she earned three varsity letters and was a two-year team captain. Her junior and senior year was named first team all-city. And in 2016 was the All-City Division I Player of the Year.
