Villanova, Pa. - Villanova volleyball's
Emma Decker was named the Student Athlete of the Month presented by The Rothman Institute for her October performance both on the court and in the classroom.
Â
Decker had a historic month on the court. On Oct. 19, Decker became just the third Wildcat to ever reach the 4,000-assist mark. Shortly after, on Nov. 3, Decker became the program's all-time assist leader by passing Vicky Dispenza for the top spot.
Â
In addition to the milestone, she was solid all-around on the court in October. She posted 340 assists, good for a 10.3 assists/set mark to lead the Wildcat offense. She also recorded 70 digs, 27 kills and 12 blocks to chip in in all facets of the game.
Â
Off the court, she was equally impressive. The senior is finishing up her double major in marketing and business analytics and owns a 3.89 GPA. Decker has been named to the BIG EAST all-academic team in each of her first three years with Villanova.
Â
Going forward, Decker will look to lead the team down the home stretch of the regular season. The Wildcats are currently in third in the BIG EAST and are preparing a push toward the postseason.
Â
Decker and the Wildcats return to action on Friday at 7 p.m. when they host No. 9 Creighton, followed by a home matchup with Providence on Saturday at 4 p.m.
