Box Score College Park, Md. – Softball fell to Rhode Island 5-3 on Friday in their first game of the Maryland Invitational.
The Wildcats jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the top of the first when
Angela Giampolo walked to start the game and
Paige Rauch doubled to score her.

However, Rhode Island would strike back with three of their own off of starter
Sara Kennedy to take a 3-2 lead after one inning. Giampolo singled home
Sydney Hayes to make it a 3-3 game in the second.
The Rams would hit a solo home run in the fifth and then another in the sixth and that would be all they needed to boost themselves to a victory.
