Chris McLain and his staff have announced the fifth signing of the 2024 class, goalkeeper Anna Maria Thomas.
"I am extremely excited to work with Maria," shared assistant women's soccer coach and goalkeeper coach
Megan Geldernick. "Her athleticism, technical ability, and eagerness to learn will push her each day on this team. She comes from a great club that I know has prepared her for the next level, but more than that, to make a hug impact on our squad. We are excited to welcome her to Nova Nation."
Thomas, played varsity soccer and volleyball and Sanford School and The Ogburn School. As an 8th grader, she started on my high school's varsity soccer team and helped lead them to their first conference championship in over 8 years. In high school, Thomas started on both volleyball and soccer Varsity teams earning 1st Team All-Conference and All State.
In ODP Thomas was selected and attended the Washington Spirit Pro Advanced Development Program, selected and attended the id2 National Training Camp, the US Training Center, and the US Combine-ODP State and was Region 1 Player-2x State Champion.
Thomas chose Villanova because, "I felt at home immediately after stepping on campus. I remember being a ball girl at a Villanova Women's soccer game for my youth soccer club and ever since that game it has been my dream to attend Villanova and be a Wildcat. I love the community environment Nova brings and it was very important to me to attend a program that combines exceptional academics with athletics. Go Wildcats!"
