Women's Basketball Returns to Action Friday vs. Seton Hall

Villanova will play for the first time in 10 days on Friday afternoon when the Seton Hall Pirates visit the Finneran Pavilion. The Wildcats enter play 6-5 overall and 0-2 in BIG EAST play, while Seton Hall is 6-5 and 1-2 in conference action. Tip-off is set for 2 p.m.
 
Tuesday's game will be the 70th all-time meeting between the Wildcats and Pirates. Villanova currently leads the all-time series by a 45-24 margin and have won eight of the last 10 versus Seton Hall.  In the Pirates last visit to Villanova, Seton Hall tallied a 67-55 win on Feb. 27, 2001.
 
Villanova ended its 2021-22 non-conference schedule at 6-5 on Dec. 21, with a 66-56 win at La Salle. Starting on Dec. 31 versus Seton Hall, Villanova will play 18 straight BIG EAST Conference games to end the season.   
 
After missing six games due to injury, junior forward Maddy Siegrist has returned to the court in fine fashion in her first three games back. After tallying a double-double of 36 points and 17 rebounds at James Madison, she had 28 points and nine rebounds versus No. 23 Oregon State and 24 points and five rebounds at La Salle. In the three games combined, she had 88 points and 31 rebounds, and she shot 30-of-67 from the field (.447), 6-of-15 from three-point range (.400) and 22-of-28 from the foul line (.785). She is averaging 29.3 points per game and 10.3 rebounds per contest during the three-game stretch.
 
It was announced on Monday, Dec. 27, that Siegrist was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll, in addition to earning Philadelphia Big 5 Player of the Week honors. She garners the distinction after tallying 24 points and five rebounds in a win at La Salle on Dec. 21. 
 
Grad student forward Brianna Herlihy has been credited with a double-double in back-to-back games for the Wildcats. After tallying 10 points and 14 rebounds versus Oregon State, Herlihy registered 15 points and 13 rebounds at La Salle. She now has six career double-doubles and five career games of 20 points or more. For the year, she is averaging 11.2 points per game and 8.1 rebounds per contest.
 
Villanova has played team basketball all season long. After 11 games, the Wildcats have been credited with an assist on 161 of their 234 made field goals for 68.8 percent. Brooke Mullin leads the way with 33 assists followed by Lucy Olsen with 26 and Herlihy with 25.
 
Following the game with Seton Hall, the Wildcats return to action on Sunday, Jan. 2, when they will host the St. John's Red Storm. Tip-off is set for noon and the game can be seen live on FS1.
