Women’s Tennis Begins Season Play

The Wildcats faced Drexel and Delaware in the first day of the Villanova Invitational.

Villanova's Women's Tennis team returned to action Saturday and took on Drexel and Delaware.

In their first match of the day against Drexel, the pair of Bella Steffen and Taylor Gould were the lone pair who won a doubles match for Villanova. Steffen and Gould defeated the pair of Pauline Kharkover and Aida Garcia Mendez, 7-6.

The Wildcats had a strong showing in singles play against the Dragons.

Annalise Klopfer defeated Renata Lombera,8-5.
Caitlin Fisher defeated Cristina Corte Gonzalez, 8-3.
Steffen defeated Tara Veluvolu,8-6.
Olivia Kapp defeated Mya Fuentes, 8-3.
Sabina Grigorian defeated Kharkover, 8-3.

The Wildcats faced off against Delaware in their second match of the day and Rose Kenny had the lone win of the day for Villanova, defeating Isabella Montana 8-3 in singles play.

Villanova will take on Temple at 9:30 a.m. Sunday, September 19 in the final day of the Villanova Invitational.
