MERION STATION, Pa.- In their 144
th matchup in program history, the Wildcats were unable to cool off the hot bats of St. Joseph's in an 11-7 loss. The Wildcats drop to 3-11 while the Hawks win their fifth-straight game and improve to 9-4.
Brendan Hueth opened up the scoring in the second frame with a solo shot that cleared the left field wall by a few inches for a 1-0 lead.
Villanova had a chance to break the seal in the top of the third.

Joey Castellanos all walked to load the bases. With ducks on the pond, the Wildcats were unable to drive in a run.
Liam Bendo padded St. Joseph's lead to 2-0 with an RBI single to right in the fourth. The Hawks continued their hot hitting when Ryan Cesarini scored two with an RBI triple to center. Luca Trigiani gave the Hawks a 5-0 lead with an RBI single to left. Saint Joseph's plated their fifth run of the inning off a throwing error that scored Trigiani.

Cameron Hassert groundout to trim the Hawks lead to 6-1.
Villanova was able to string together three runs in the seventh. Rotondo and Hassert each recorded RBI singles to set the score at 6-3. Rotondo later scored the Wildcats' final run in the inning off an errant pick-off throw.
Brandon Drapeau scampered home on a wild pitch in the seventh to extend St. Joseph's lead to 7-4. The Hawks continued their offensive onslaught when Nate Thomas and Hueth each recorded a pair of two-run homers in the eighth for an 11-4 lead.
Villanova didn't go down without a fight in the ninth. Hassert drove a ball to the berm in right field for a two-run homer and set the score at 11-6.
Joey Castellanos scored Villanova's last run of the game on a dropped pop fly by the catcher.
