Villanova, Pa.- The Villanova Wildcats will host the Delaware Blue Hens on Saturday for the final non-conference game of the season. First faceoff is scheduled for 4:00 P.M. and can be seen on Nova Nation All-Access of FloSports. This game will be the second inside Villanova Stadium on Saturday, first the women's lacrosse team will take on UC Davis at 12:00 P.M.
Matchup History: Saturday marks the 21
st meeting all-time between the Wildcats and Blue Hens. Villanova has won 13 of the previous meetings with the most recent coming in 2020 by a final of 19-10. Last seasons game was cancelled due to covid-19 issues within the Delaware program.
A Look at Villanova: The Wildcats are 4-3 overall coming into Saturday matchup. Last weekend Villanova used a 7-1 third quarter to pull away from the Drexel Dragons and win 15-12.
Luke Keating finished with eight points on three goals and five assists and was named BIG EAST Attacker of the Week and to the USILA Team of the Week.
Villanova's Offense: A pair of seniors in
Matt Campbell and
Patrick Daly along with graduate students
Luke Keating and
Brett Baskin have led the Villanova offense this season. All four have other 20 points with Campbell and Keating have 29 points each and Daly netting 20 goals.
J.P. Basile has 15 points this season, the graduate transfer has netted nine goals and dished out six assists.
Villanova's Defense: The Wildcats defense is 4
th in the country in caused turnovers per game and are led by
Chet Comizio who has 14 this season.
Brody LaPorte and Chis Hervada both have nine and the Wildcats average 10.86 per game.
Justin Coppola at the faceoff x is 109-for-181 this season (.602) which ties him for 12
th in the country and third best in the BIG EAST.
Will Vitton has played 405 minutes in goal this season and has a 11.56 goals against average and .451 save percentage.
A Look at Delaware: The Blue Hens are 6-2 overall entering Saturday's game and defeated John's Hopkins last weekend 12-10. Mike Robinson is Delaware's leading scored with 27 goals this season and a team high 34 points. Three other Blue Hens have over 20 points with season and Mike Bieda has a team high 13 assists. Sophomore Logan Premtaj is Delaware's primary FOG. This season he is 83-for-168 (.494) with 36 ground balls. Paul Reidy has been the primary keeper for the Blue Hens over the last two games and this season is 4-1. Reidy has a 9.95 goals against average and a .493 save percentage.
