VILLANOVA, Pa.—Juniors
Caitlin Fisher (Cincinnati, Ohio) and
Amanda Rivera-Gonzalez (Bayamon, Puerto Rico) each won their singles matches in three sets to help Villanova (4-8) rally past Connecticut (8-10) for a 4-3 victory at the West Campus Tennis Complex on Sunday afternoon. After losing the doubles point to begin the match, the Wildcats came back with four wins in singles to capture their second win in their last three outings.
Fisher and Rivera-Gonzalez each won their opening set at No. 3 singles and No. 6 singles, respectively, before having to outlast their opponents in the third set. Senior

Valieriia Kornieva (Dnipro, Ukraine) won in straight sets at No. 4 singles. The match was the final home competition for Villanova this season and the penultimate regular season match before the BIG EAST Championships later this month.
Fisher won her opening set against Leonie Hoppe at No. 3 singles by a 7-5 count, while each of the next two sets ended with 6-2 scores. Hoppe tied the match in the second set and Fisher won the third set to improve to 5-7 in dual competition on the season. Rivera-Gonzalez faced Doga Selen Takunyaci at No. 6 singles and came away with a 6-4, 3-6, 6-4 victory for her third win of the year.
The match at No. 1 singles featured Klopfer taking on Julieanne Bou and posting a 6-0, 6-1 decision. She is now 10-1 in dual competition this season, all in the No. 1 lineup spot, and has won seven decisions in a row. Klopfer and freshman

Kornieva won in straight sets at No. 4 singles, 6-4 and 6-2, over Caroline Cook. Sophomore
