PRINCETON, N.J.—Villanova wrapped up competition on the final day of the Larry Ellis Invitational with six track events and two field events on the schedule at Weaver Stadium on Saturday afternoon. The top finishes of the day for the Wildcats came from graduate jumper
Sosa Omuemu (Foxborough, Mass.) who finished seventh in the triple jump and from the team's 4x400 meter relay squad which also turned in a seventh place finish.
Omuemu was one of two field athletes who competed for Villanova on Saturday and he registered a mark of 13.62 meters in the triple jump. He finished seventh out of 12 competitors in the event and notched his best jump of the day on his fifth of six attempts. Omuemu was already in seventh place after the first round of jumps when he tallied a mark of 13.57 meters on his third attempt. He was one of eight athletes who advanced to the final round and took three more attempts, with his penultimate jump of the day yielding his best result.
Freshman thrower
Tristan Bolinsky (Gordon, Pa.) competed in the discus on Saturday and threw for 46.22 meters. He was in the first of two flights and recorded his best mark of the day on his first throw. Bolinsky threw for 42.73 meters and 45.88 meters on his next two attempts to round out the competition. The young member of the team's throwing group ranks ninth in school history in the discus with a season best mark of 47.53 meters recorded earlier this season.
The final event of the meet for the Wildcats was the 4x400 meter relay in which a lineup of senior
Richie Bush (Lawnside, N.J.), junior
Mac Costonis (Lower Gwynedd, Pa.), sophomore
Jakob Kunzer (George Town, Grand Cayman) and sophomore
William Seijas (Shrewsbury, N.J.) recorded a time of 3:19.98 to finish seventh out of 14 relay squads. Kunzer, who had run the 400 meters individually earlier in the afternoon, registered a split of 48.42 on the third leg of the relay. Seijas anchored with a 50.48 split.
In the individual sprints, Kunzer (50.18) and Bush (50.23) ran nearly identical times in the 400 meters. Costonis competed in the 400 meter hurdles and posted a season best time of 56.10, while graduate student
Michael Troup (Doylestown, Pa.) recorded a time of 11.25 in the 100 meters. Middle distance runners
Jacob Bonanotte (Barrington, Ill.) and
Cole Walker (Chadds Ford, Pa.) rounded out the group of Villanova athletes who were in action on Saturday afternoon. Bonanotte competed in the 800 meters and notched a season best time of 1:58.07; Walker lowered his lifetime best in the 1500 meters to 3:54.85.
Coming up this week the Wildcats will compete in the Virginia Challenge on Friday and Saturday in Charlottesville, Va.
