PHILADELPHIA – The Villanova University Men's Tennis team competed in the ITA Regionals over the weekend (Oct. 17 – Oct. 21) hosted at University of Pennsylvania's campus.
Will Monahan and
Trey Fourticq participated in the Singles draw, while Fourticq and
Cooper Gordon as well as Monahan and
Thomas Wakefield teamed up in the doubles bracket.
On the first day of competition (Oct. 17), Monahan fell to Bucknell's Oscar Bain. After dropping the first set in a tiebreaker, 7-6 (3), Monahan bounced back to win the second set, 6-3. However, Bain took the third set, 6-3, to win the match.
On Friday (Oct. 18), Fourticq and Gordon fell to Siekanowicz and Mackenzie of Delaware, 8-4. Then, Monahan and Wakefield lost to Princeton's Kam and Wen, 8-6. To close the event for the Wildcats, Fourticq fell to Danilo Raicevic of Saint John's, 6-3, 6-4.
Up next, Villanova will compete in the Dragon Invitational from Nov. 1 to Nov. 3 at the Vidas Athletics Complex in Philadelphia.
