DAVIDSON, NC – The Davidson Wildcats held off the Villanova Wildcats in a 11-8 shootout.
Villanova got off to a fast start with two runs in the first inning, but Davidson answered back in the second inning with two runs. By the next time Villanova scored it would be too late. Going into the eighth inning Davidson led 9-2. Villanova battledback and score six runs going into the bottom of the eighth putting pressure on Davidson. They would respond with a two-run double to put Villanova away, 11-8.

How It Happened
- In the top of the first inning, Jack O'Reilly doubled to left center, Jason Neff scored putting Villanova up 1-0.
- Cam Hassert grounded out to second, Scott Shaw Scored from third, 2-0 wildcats in the first.
- Davidson scored two in the second inning including a solo home run from Eli Putnam and a single from Jed Howard, 2-2.
- Jed Howard singles to left, scoring Jake Wilhoit in the fourth inning, 3-2 Davidson.
- Davidson added three runs to their lead in the fifth off a single by Jed Howard scored two and a Eli Putnam walk scored another, 6-2.
- Jak Wilhoit extends the lead after hitting a three-run home run in the seventh, 9-2 Davidson.
- Collin Quintano singled to right scoring AJ Hansen in the eighth, 9-3.
- Villanova scored 5 in the eighth, 9-8. Jason Neff singled to left field driving in two runners. Quintano scored after Trent Toole was walked. AJ Hansen hits a sacrifice fly to score Jason Neff.
- Tyler Douglas doubled down the line and scored two in the eighth, 11-8.
