LOS ANGELES, CALIF. – Villanova bats stall out in Los Angeles for game one of series against Loyola Marymount, 7-1.
The pitching in this match up dominated in game one. The scoring would open up in the second with a solo home run by the Lions in the second. The lone score of the game for the Wildcats would come in the top of the third off a sacrifice fly. Loyola Marymount would go on to score six unanswered runs to win 7-1.

- Scott Shaw hits sacrifice fly to score Trent Toole and tie the game at 1-1 in the third.
- Sam Biller and Christian Dicochea both hit singles in the bottom of the third inning to give Loyola the lead 3-1.
- A Dicochea single scores two more runs and G Weiss adds another single to score one more, giving the Lions a 6-1 lead in the fifth.
- Benny Casillas scored off a sacrifice fly to right field, 7-1.
