NEW YORK - Villanova University junior guard
Lucy Olsen (Collegeville, Pa.) has been named an Honorable Mention All-American by the
Associated Press.
Olsen currently ranks fourth in the country in scoring at 23.2 points per game. She has also tallied 115 assists, 57 steals to go with a 4.8 rebounds per game average. In 30 games this year, she scored 20 or more points on 21 occasions, and she has had 30 or more nine times. Her best effort of the year came against Temple on Nov. 19 when she tallied a career-high 40 points.    Â
With her 22-point performance versus Marquette in the quarterfinal round of the BIG EAST Tournament, Olsen set the Villanova junior class record for points in a season (currently has 697 points). The previous record of 684 was held by
Maddy Siegrist during the 2021-22 season. Â
For her efforts this year, she was also a unanimous first team All-BIG EAST selection, in addition to being named the league's Most Improved Player.
Olsen and the Wildcats return to action on Thursday, March 21, when they host VCU in the first round of the WBIT. Game time is set for 7 p.m.
