Box Score 2 VILLANOVA, PA— Villanova traveled to Cincinnati, Ohio and Indianapolis, Indiana this weekend to take on BIG EAST foes Xavier and Butler. The Wildcats would be defeated in both matchups.
Xavier 5 – Villanova 2
Doubles
In the one spot for Villanova,
Will Monahan and Juston Frattarelli fell 6-2.
Josh Robinson and
Thomas Wakefield were led by Mosberger and Gonzalez 6-5.
In the final spot
Noah Winton and
Eitan Khromchenko lost in a tight match 6-4.
Singles
Josh Robinson fell in the one spot against Cahill 6-4, 6-2.
Will Monahan was defeated by Mosberger 6-2, 6-4.
Eitan Khromchenko won in the third spot for the Wildcats in a third set thriller. The senior dropped the first set to Pennelli 6-2. Khromchenko responded with a 6-4 second set victory which would set up a battle in the third set where he held off Pennelli in a 11-9 victory.
Ryan Nguyen battled in the fourth spot against Temming and fell 6-2, 6-3.
Sophomore
Cooper Gordon dropped his matchup to Gonzalez 6-3, 6-4.
In the final spot
Lukas Choi picked up a dominant victory over Adamec 6-2, 6-3 to give a point to Villanova.
Butler 7 – Villanova 0
Doubles
The freshman duo of
Will Monahan and
Justin Frattarelli took on the one spot against Huete and Konakanchi. Monahan and Frattarelli were defeated 6-2.
Josh Robinson and
Cooper Gordon went to a tie breaker against Joss and Miralles. The Wildcats were defeated however 7-6 (2).
In the final spot
Noah Winton and
Eitan Khromchenko picked up the lone doubles victory for Villanova. The duo defeated Arts and Balthazor 6-4.
Singles
Josh Robinson took on Vadillo in the one position and was defeated 6-1, 6-3.
Will Monahan lost a third set heartbreak to Miralles. Monahan defeated Miralles 7-5 in the first set but dropped the second in a tiebreaker 6-7 (3). In the third set the freshman was defeated 10-8.
Eitan Khromchenko dropped his singles match against Joss 6-0, 6-2.
Ryan Nguyen fell 6-4, 6-1 to Konakanchi in the fourth position.
Lukas Choi lost his matchup against William 6-4, 6-1.
In the final spot Juston Frattarelli fell in a third set battle against Balthazor. After losing the first set 6-2, Frattarelli won the second set 6-0. The freshmen would fall however 10-4 in the third set.
