NEW YORK – The BIG EAST Conference today announced the 2023-24 women's basketball All-Conference teams and major award winners. Three different Wildcats were honored by the league, including junior guard
Lucy Olsen (Collegeville, Pa.), junior forward
Christina Dalce (Edison, N.J.) and freshman guard
Maddie Webber (Bridgeville, Pa.).
Olsen highlighted the group by earning first team All-BIG EAST accolades and the Most Improved Player Award. Dalce claimed the Co-Defensive Player of the Year award, in addition to being a Honorable Mention selection, while Webber garnered All-Freshman Team distinction.
Olsen led the BIG EAST in scoring this season with a 23.3 points per game average to go with 4.8 rebounds per contest, a team-high 113 assists and a team-best 56 steals. In 29 games this year, she scored 20 or more points on 20 occasions, and she has had 30 or more points nine times. Her best effort of the year came against Temple on Nov. 19 when she tallied a career-high 40 points.
Dalce finished the regular season leading the BIG EAST for all games in both rebounding at 9.7 per game and blocked shots with 68 to go with an 8.4 points per game average. She had nine double-doubles during the regular season and 14 double figure rebounding games. She also had 10 games of three or more blocked shots.
Webber started nine of the 27 games she played in and averaged 7.9 points per game and 2.7 rebounds per contest in 24.8 minutes per game. She scored double figures on 11 occasions, including a career-high 20 points at Providence.
Villanova will be the No. 4 seed in this week's BIG EAST Tournament and will take on No. 5 seed Marquette on Saturday, March 9, at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Conn. Tip-off is set for 2:30 p.m.
