Villanova Drops Game One Against Creighton

PLYMOUTH MEETING – Villanova was defeated 14-6 by Creighton
 
As the game began, great defense kept it scoreless through two innings of play. However, in the third Creighton scored one run and it started a streak of sixth straight innings of scoring for the Blue Jays.
 
After being down 11-0 going into the bottom of the seventh, Villanova got on the board.  Two home runs and an RBI single in the inning cut the lead to 11-5, but still was not enough for the Wildcats to catch up. Creighton added three more and Villanova one more in the eighth to reach our final score of 14-6.
 
 
Nova Notes
  • Josue Valdez hit a three-run home run in the seventh, his second of the season. Valdez finished 1-3 at the plate with three RBI.
  • Shane Solari batted 3-4 on the day which included a solo home run in the seventh, his of his career.
  • Scott Shaw and Jason Neff both had two hit son the day and Neff added in an RBI as well
How It Happened
  • Maclean hit a sac fly in the third, scoring Sailors, 1-0 Creighton.
  • In the fourth Sailors singled through left side, Zukowski scored, 2-0.
  • Helligso doubled to right center scoring Deters in the fifth, 3-0.
  • In the fifth, North hit a three-run homer, 6-0.
  • Creighton added two more in the sixth after a solo home run by Sailors and an RBI double by Canales, 8-0.
  • In the seventh, an RBI double by Sailors and a two-RBI single by Maclean scored three more, 11-0.
  • Michael Whooley singled to left field, scoring Scott Shaw in the seventh, 11-1.
  • Josue Valdez hit a three- run homer run in the seventh, 11-4.
  • Shane Solari in the seventh hit a solo home run, 11-5.
  • In the eighth, a sac fly would score Zukowski and a two-RBI double by Clifford score two more, 14-5.
  • Jason Neff singled to right field in the eighth, scoring Scott Shaw
