PLYMOUTH MEETING– Villanova is outlasted by Saint. Joseph's at home. The Hawks took the midweek victory 12-8.
Saint Joseph's got the game started fast with two runs in the first and four in the second to take an early 6-0 lead. After an RBI bunt scored another for The Hawks in the third, Villanova was able to get on the bored in the bottom of the inning.
Cam Hassert recorded the team's first hit in the bottom of the third. After
AJ Hansen walked and stole second, Hassert's double brought in Hansen to put the Wildcats on the board. Another run for Villanova in the fourth cut the lead to 6-2. However, The Hawks responded in the fifth.
Ryan Picollo hit a three-ru home run to left field to take the lead to 10-2 for Saint Joseph's. With an eight-run deficit, Villanova did not give up. An RBI-single and RBI-double in the fifth by
Scott Shaw and
Michael Whooley, began the comeback.
In the sixth down 10-4, Cam Hassert goes yard for the second game in a row to bring the score to 10-6 after six. After a sac fly by
Josue Valdez scored O'Reilly and an RBI-double by
Shane Solari scored Neff, The Wildcats cut the lead to two after eight.
The momentum for Villanova came to an end in the top of the eighth after The Hawks added two runs to give us our final score of 12-8,
