Wildcats Drop Final Game Of The Series To The Bulldogs

PLYMOUTH MEETING– Villanova drops their final home game of the season, 9-6 against Butler.
 
An error to start the game by Villanova led to Butler getting on the board in the first inning to take the early lead. Butler gave that lead right up with an error of their own in the bottom of the inning.
 
Scott Shaw came around to score in the first to take the 2-1 lead for Villanova after an RBI single to left field by Jack O'Reilly.
 
The bats stayed hot for Butler in the second as two RBI singles brought around two for The Bulldogs as they reclaimed the lead, 3-2.
 
A third straight inning of getting on the board continued for Butler.  A triple by Tommy Townsend scored a run and Townsend was hit in by Evan Parks on a single to make it 5-2. Good team hitting continued for The Bulldogs in the fourth, adding two more to the score on two RBI singles. After the top of the fourth Butler led 7-2.
 
Villanova began a furious comeback in the fifth inning that started with a solo shot by Dylan Dennis.  The Wildcats were able to get two more across from a walk and wild pitch as well as another from an RBI single by O'Reilly. This brought Villanova within one (7-6) after five innings.
 
A few quiet innings were broken up by a wild pitch from Villanova that allowed Butler to bring in a run in the seventh, making it 8-6. They added one more in the eighth on an RBI single to take the lead to three runs and give us our final score, 9-6.

  • Joey Urban singled up the middle scoring Carter Dorighi in the first, 1-0 Butler.
  • In the bottom of the first, Cam Hassert stole third and scored on an error on the throw, 1-1.
  • Jack O'Reilly singled to left field in the first, scoring Scott Shaw, 2-1 Villanova.
  • In the top of the second, an RBI single by Ian Choi and Joey Urban scored two more for Butler, 3-2.
  • Tommy Townsend tripled to right center, scoring Kade Lewis, 4-2 in the third.
  • In the third, Evan Parks singled to right field, Townsend scored, 5-2.
  • Lewis singled up the middle in the fourth, Dorighi scored, 6-2.
  • In the fourth, Xavier Carter singled to right field scoring Lewis, 7-2.
