MERION STATION, PA– Villanova drops back and forth midweek battle on the road at Saint Joseph's, 8-6
The Wildcats started the game off slow, giving up three runs in the first inning. Those three runs were scored by a wild pitch, walk and a hit by pitch.
After a three-run hole to start the game,
Aidan Barry brought some life for Villanova in the second as he hit his first career home run. After The Hawks responded with another run in the second, Barry stayed hot in the fourth. The sophomore singled to right field, scoring
AJ Hansen to bring the score to 4-3.
Villanova took their first lead of the day in the fifth inning.
Jason Neff doubled to center field allowing
Scott Shaw and Cam Hassert to score and give Villanova a 5-4 lead.
That lead did not last very long for The Wildcats as a solo shot by Mike Picollo tied the game and a fielder's choice scored Carter Jagiela in the sixth to take the lead.
Another response by The Wildcats only took a half inning as
Scott Shaw scored on a fielder's choice to tie the game in the seventh. The back-and-forth game continued as The Hawks scored two in the seventh to lead 8-6.
The Wildcats offense slowed down as they were not able to get back on th board, giving us our final score, 8-6.
