ANNAPOLIS, Md. – The Villanova University Men's Tennis team fell to Navy, 6-1, on Saturday (Feb. 8) at the Tose Family Tennis Center.
At the top of the doubles card,
Cooper Gordon and
Kush Anand took down Jason Kim and Nathan Nguyen, 6-1. However, Aniketh Ayinala and Charlie Spencer defeated
Thomas Wakefield and
Trey Fourticq, 6-3, while
Quincy Jones and
Jack Sherner fell to Aaron Gu and Tommy Kim, 6-4, to secure the doubles point for the Midshipmen.
In singles, Gordon, Wakefield and Fourticq all fell in straight sets at the top of the card. Anand fell to Ayinala, 6-2, 6-3, while Kim defeated
Justin Frattarelli, 6-4, 6-3. In the sixth singles spot, Jones defeated Graydon Buckingham, 6-1, 6-4, bringing the final score to 6-1 in favor of Navy.
Up next, the Wildcats will host Rider on Saturday, Feb. 15. The match will begin at 6:30 p.m. at the Bryn Mawr Racquet Club.
