COLLEGE PARK, Md. – The Villanova University field hockey program dropped their opening game to start the season 3-2, on Friday (Aug. 29) at the Field Hockey and Lacrosse Complex in College Park, Md against James Madison.
James Madison got off to a hot start, scoring a goal within the first five minutes of action. The Dukes added to their lead halfway through 2
nd quarter making it 2-0. Villanova tallied their first goal of the season thanks to graduate student
Ava Borkowski finding the back of the net toward the end of the second.
The 'Cats continued to claw back in the second half with Borkowski knotting her second goal of the game to tie the score at two heading into the last 15 minutes. However, James Madison's, Alice Roeper, scored a couple minutes into the fourth quarter which would end up being the game winning goal.
Up Next: Villanova will stay in College Park, Md. to take on Maryland. The game will start at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday and will be streaming live on Big Ten Plus.
