COLLEGE PARK, Md. – The Villanova University field hockey program lost on Sunday (Aug. 31) 4-0 at the Field Hockey and Lacrosse Complex in College Park, Md against #4 ranked Maryland.
Maryland scored early with its two goals happening within the first ten minutes of action. From their both defenses were solid as there was not another goal for the next two quarters of play. Finally, Maryland was able to get back in the scoring column. The Terps scored two goals in the fourth quarter which would go on to be the dagger.
Villanova played very well during the game. Keeping up with the #4 Terps throughout the day and keeping it close. The 'Cats had five penalty corners compared to the Terrapins 6. Junior
Maddi Sears also had a nice game in goal for Villanova achieving fours saves and blanking Maryland for two quarters. The offense for for VU was able to attack and get off eight shots, two on goal, but were unable to put any in the back of the net.
