CONSHOHOCKEN, Pa. – The Villanova University field hockey team will have their home opener Friday at 3:00 p.m. against La Salle before heading to Hempstead, N.Y. to take on Hofstra on Sunday (Sept. 14) at 12 p.m. ET from Hofstra Field Hockey Stadium.

Villanova will square off against La Salle to start their home schedule for the 2025 campaign. In addition to its being the home opener, this will be the annual UNITAS game for the 'Cats. Emphasizing the important of mental health awareness and the organization "Every Mind Matters". The Wildcats secured a 2-0 shutout home win against La Salle a season ago. VU holds an impressive 37-8-1 record against the Explorers.

VU will be defending their home turf for the first time in 2025. After beginning the first three games on the road. Villanova's last game was a 5-2 loss to Fairfield in Connecticut. In that game, graduate student Ava Borkowski netted her third goal of the season. Borkowski now has three goals in three games and leads the team in goals and points.

La Salle is coming off a disappointing 2-1 loss to Saint Francis in their last game that saw their record fall to 1-2. The Explorers split it's first two games to begin the season, losing their first game to Leigh and getting a win over New Haven. Opposite of the 'Cats, this will be the first road test for La Salle.

On Sunday, the 'Cats will be on the road in Hempstead, N.Y. to take on Hofstra. Villanova has a 5-3-1 record and a 3-2 record on the road against the Pride. The Pride have began the season with a 3-1 start, after dropping their first game to #18 Albany, they have tallied off three wins in a row including a 2-1 win in overtime in their last outing over Bryant.
