Navy Fall Classic Final Results
ANNAPOLIS, Md. - The Villanova golf team finished play at the Navy Fall Classic in Annapolis, Md. tied for fifth place as a team. Their total team score was 591 (+23) after the two round tournament came to a close on a rainy afternoon at the Naval Academy Golf Course. The University of Delaware took home first place with a 569 (+1).
The Wildcats were led by junior Brian Colbert (Cary, Ill.) who finished with a strong two round total of 71-72--143 (+1) which put him tied for seventh place overall.
Sophomore Michael Kania (Haverford, Pa.) (73-74--147; +5), senior Brendan Kelly (Annapolis, Md.) (73-78--151; +9), freshman Robbie Galbreath (Huntington Valley, Pa.) (76-76--152; +10), and sophomore Brian Murphy (Wilton, Conn.) (74-79--153; +11) finished out the top five for Villanova, tying for 16th, 37th, 40th, 43rd places overall, respectively.
Senior Conor Casey (Madison, N.J.) (74-72--146; +4) and freshman Joe Carlson (Inverness, Ill.) (72-76--148; +6) also played well and finished tied for 12th and 23rd.
Villanova finished just two strokes behind the host and fourth place finishers Navy Gold who compiled a score of 589 (+21).
Towson University's John Duthie held onto his first round lead and finished the tournament as the individual champion with a two-day total of 133 (-9).
Next weekend, the Villanova golf team will travel to Farmingdale, N.Y. for The McLaughlin.
